About the book: Did you feel like the beginning of the book grabbed your attention? Have you ever really thought about what you can accomplish in 19 minutes?
School violence in the US is something we are concerned about. Have you ever experienced school violence personally? Have you ever been bullied? Have you looked at the timeline of school violence since 1996? Not all of the places are in the States.
What are your thoughts? How would you handle it if someone came in to your school and started shooting?

hi nanacy! i´m candelaria gallardo luckily i have never experienced school violence personally, neither been bullied. I don´t really know how would i handle it if someone came in to your school and started shooting, i think that if that happened in my school(which i think really dificult as we know each other so well because we are not so many, and we get surprisely well)i will enter on a state of shock.

ReplyDeleteTHe biginning of the REALLY caught my attention, as i thought that i could plenty of stuff during 19 minutes, such as going and returning to the supermarket, read a magazine, etc.
thank god i've never experienced violence at school, i'm very grateful because we don't rather experience violences and bullying at argentinian schools.
if someone came to our school and started shooting i'd be surprised, shockey, startled, we dont normally fight here, we dont even get bullied.

I had been bullied in the street only, but never in school.

Hello Nancy! My name is Sofía Zamponi and I am 15, going on 16 next june. This is the second time I write this entry because, while I was writing the first one I accidentally closed the Internet window, and I just wanna shoot myself rigth now. As regards my main ineterests all I can say is field hockey, I guess it's one of the things I enjoy the most in this life. I aslo like a lot hangin out with my friends and listening to music.
ReplyDeleteI must say I'm a really slow person. What I mean is that I generally don't get to do much in nineteen minutes. But the truth is that a lot can happen in that period of time, I think that MOST IMPORTANT THINGS GENERALLY TAKE PLACE IN A SHORT TIME. Mybe i should try to make a better use of my own.
Talking about violence at school I can't recall any problem that was TOO serious, maybe just some bullying, but not that agressive or violent, never got that far. I cannot picture myself in a situation like that, I guess I would either run away or try to calm down the person, depending on how was my relationship with the guy, if I were the enemy, I would definitely run away as soon as possible or escape.
Apart from the fact that our enviroment at school is different from the one in the novel, that popularity doesn't exist or matters, teachers at our school handle things in a different way, they wouldn't let bullying get so far, and in that case, it would be hardly punished.

ReplyDeleteAbout the book, I was really shoked about the fact of the bullies and al that, because here in our school isnt normal to be bullied all the time, like Peter was.
Fortunatelly I've never been bullied, and if i was bullied i dont know how I wolud react.

In my opinion, the time in which Peter shot his classmates was very surprising, since I coul manage to do not many things in so little time.
Thanks god, I have never experienced a close school shooting as we a re very few people in the town and school. Furthermore, we don´t have many cases in the whole country.
If I was bullied I would feel in very low spirits, horribly bad and depressed.
Moreover, if anyone decided to shoot my classmates at school I would feel really petrified, without knowing what to do.
I have never been bullied, too.
